The Russian Language School in Cork, is an officially registered volunteer organization, created by parents in order to help their children to study the Russian language and Slavic culture.
With effect from March 2020, the Russian Language School in Cork has introduced some precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our pupils and teachers in line with HSE regulations.
The school rents its main premises in SMA Community Centre, in Wilton, Cork. Some of the classes take place in other locations: Bandon, Youghal, Glanmire, Midleton. School opening hours for regular classes are from 08:45 to 15:00 on Saturdays. Students can also take other classes available during our academic year (from October to May). We also organize or get involved in some initiatives during the summer months.
There are three internal teachers working for the school at the moment. These teachers have qualifications in the Russian language, psychology, social and personal education, arts, drama, and music. There are also external teachers that contribute to our distance learning programs. Volunteers assist with many aspects of the school life, but without the contribution of the parents and pupils our school would never exist.
We also do activities such as those that not only involve language acquisitions, but support the general children’s development and erudition:
Educational films in the Russian Language, Russian cultural events and festivals (crafts, arts, food, music), Drama classes, Panto performances, Poetry classes, Singing classes, and other music classes, Pre-school groups, Acrobatics classes, Painting classes, Fun sport activity days, Russian history classes and events, Exchange programs with Russian cities.
The school has a library, which provides students with textbooks and extra reading materials (as well as books for individual reading). One can also find classical literature for kids and adults there.
